OUR HISTORY
OUR HISTORY
The Reclamation story goes back to 1983 when Mountain View Assembly of God was built in the Lakewood area of Arlington on 8 beautiful acres with a “view” of the “mountains”.
By 2006, Mountain View had functionally outgrown its facility. Rather than build bigger buildings the church pursued purchasing a second campus in the heart of Marysville just 15 minutes away and became one church in two locations. The Marysville addition quadrupled our meeting space and allowed us to now be in two different communities.
In 2016, fundamental changes to ministry structure began in order to better focus on the growth and different needs of the communities our church existed in. Where Pastor Scott Cooper and the worship team were traveling between campuses each Sunday, he would now serve the Marysville community and Pastor Enos Marshall would be the campus pastor for Lakewood. Each campus would develop their own ministry teams to better serve the communities around each campus. Concurrently, “Mountain View” changed its name to “Reclamation Church”.
Our Mission has always been to create PLACES IN WHICH and PEOPLE THROUGH WHOM others will CONNECT WITH GOD.
Toward that end, we structure our ministry around 4 PURPOSES: COME Home to Christ, GROW Closer to God, SERVE Others, and GO Change the World.
Every church needs to ask that question. Until the answer is discovered and accepted, there can be no foundation, no motivation, no direction for ministry. Reclamation has pulled 4 “purposes for the church” out of the Bible to create our Mission Statement. It is our “church compass” that keeps our priorities straight, helps us minister effectively, and gives us a tool to evaluate our progress. As you’ve already read in a previous part of this packet, life for all of us begins apart from God. It may be hectic or peaceful, violent or safe, slow or fast, but without God it is purposeless! He exists outside of life, waiting and wanting us to recognize our utter need of a life with him both for now and into the next life. But it requires us to seek after him and make a decision to pursue a life with God. That process is illustrated in the Reclamation Map below. Each section of the “yard” is crucial to a full life with God, and each has multiple ministries associated with it that ensure the church is doing all it can to give people a complete and ongoing experience of what it means to walk with God.
Reclamation exists to see people...
COME Home to Christ
People are different. We have different life experiences, cultural uniqueness'
and spiritual histories. Yet the one thing that unites us, whether we’re aware of
it or not, is our need of God. That's why our #1 priority is sharing the truth of
God as revealed in the Bible in ways that will ultimately lead people to a real,
solid, and saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
(1 Corinthians 9:19-27, Matthew 28:18-20)
GROW Closer to God
We are committed to helping people pursue a life-long process of spiritual
growth. This includes developing basic Biblical disciplines, values, character,
and commitments of true disciples of Jesus Christ through interaction with
other members in both large and small group settings where study of God’s
Word and principles of the Christian Life are the central themes.
(Romans 12:1, 2, Hebrews 6:1, 2 Peter 3:18)
SERVE Others
The church is at times referred to in scripture as "The Body of Christ" -
emphasizing the connectedness that each individual has with every other
member. We, therefore, make it our business to express spoken and tangible
love to those in the church at all times, and dedicate ourselves to being
involved in ministries that build up the Body of Christ.
(James 2:16, 16, 1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Ephesians 4:11-12,
1 Peter 3:8)
GO Change the World
The ultimate goal for disciple-development is to be reproducing our faith in the
life of another. Therefore, we will mobilize the church for ministry within their
circle of relationships and encourage financial giving to advance the global
mission of world evangelism.
(Acts 1:8, Romans 10:13-14, 1 Peter 3:15)
