Rocket Town USA is a fun and free family event for parents and kids to build and launch model rockets on the 4th of July. Here’s how it works:
1) Register your family online.
2) Prior to Sunday, June 29th, pick up your FREE kit, featuring the Estes “Wizard rocket, model 1754 (one per child) from Reclamation Church at any of our Sunday Services at 8:30, 10:00, or 11:30 (NOTE: The 11:30 service will drop from our Summer Service schedule in June and return in the Fall).
3) Work with your child at home to build and decorate your rocket.
4) RETURN to the church with your rocket ready to receive its engine (2 free engines per rocket on launch day).
5) LAUNCH your rocket at your assigned life-off window and have fun chasing it down as it lands back on earth.
While you’re waiting for your assigned launch window, grab a free hotdog off the grill!
The launch window for kids with church-provided rockets will be from noon-1:00. There will be an “Open Unlimited” launch window from 1:00 – 1:30 for kids or adults bringing their own custom rockets.
Each family will receive onsite up to 2 free engines per rocket (Size A8-3). Families may purchase and bring additional engines (Hobby Lobby or other retailer) for additional launches should time allow.
Should weather scrub the July 4th launch date, another one will be scheduled.
PRO-TIPS:
· GIVE yourself plenty of time to work on your rocket. Though not complex, it is critical to follow build directions for a rocket capable of multiple flights. Glue typically needs a day to fully harden before launch, so last minute creations literally “will not fly”.
· PRIZES will be awarded for Most Patriotic, Most Creative, and Finest Detailing in the kid’s division, so take your time and get creative!
